Fisheries are ever changing. Adapting. New building materials for nets and boats, advanced propulsion and electronic systems are developed and integrated into fisheries, changing greatly the architecture and capabilities of small and large fishing boats. This project aims to understand what is changing on fishing boats due to social, economic and environmental factors.

Tell us the story of your boat
We are interested in know more about the fishing boats around the world. Fishing boats reflect not just the diversity and complexity of fishing, but also the changes happening in the fishing systems. That is why the story of each fishing boat is important - it tells the story of fisheries.
I am Miguel Lorenzi, I was born brazilian but now I am a Newfoundlander-in-training. With a Masters degree in Marine Biology I have been doing research on fisheries for the past 9 years. Now I am a PhD Candidate at the Department of Geography of Memorial University in
St. John's, Newfoundland.
